This includes maintaining and servicing the compactor, efficiently operating it on all slopes, and compacting waste ensure compliance with TDEC regulations.
The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
PRIMARY DUTIES:
Operate the compactor on all landfill slopes and in all weather conditions Compact waste in a manner to not create high walls Build slopes as depicted in engineered plans Maintain and perform minor repairs and preventative maintenance on machinery and equipment Direct drivers as to where to unload material and ensures drivers have been thru the scale house Keep working face to a minimum Ensure waste is covered as required by TDEC Picks up litter to ensure in compliance with TDEC regulations Reports any observed deviations in landfill such as leachate outbreak, storm water runoff blocked, etc.
to lead operator Complete required paperwork to include incoming waste inspections and maintenance logs Adhere to SSWI policies and guidelines Work safely Other duties as assigned by Manager to ensure success of compost and recycling operations Education, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Must be 18 years of age Possess a valid drivers license Completion of high school Technical training in the use of the type of equipment used in landfill is preferred Knowledge of the materials and equipment used in general landfill activities Must be able to pass a drug test Ability to operate equipment Essential Job Functions Required to Perform the Job:
Must be able to perform the essential job functions Able to communicate with public and represent SSWI in a professional manner Able to operate a wide variety of landfill equipment in all types of weather Able to correctly lift a minimum of 50 pounds Able to climb into and exit equipment Able to have good hand/eye coordination Able to maintain stamina in heat, humidity, cold Able to bend, twist, stoop, stand for continuous periods Able to analyze and remember information Able to have manual dexterity necessary to complete all job duties Able to maintain dependable work Able to remain calm in highly stressful, hectic environment Able to be flexible and handle changes in priorities Able to prioritize tasks and complete assignments on time Able to report to work on time without being under the influence or smelling of alcohol or drugs Able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug test Able to have good motor skills Able to make sound decisions Job Type:
